Discover Our Story

Before Maggie’s Tea Room came to life, this very building was home to AJS Motorcycles, where Mr Maggie spent many years doing what he loved. During lockdown, with his back making the work increasingly difficult, it was time for a change. For Mrs Maggie, that change became the perfect opportunity to follow something she had always dreamed of, creating a little Victorian-inspired tearoom. With her love of beautiful china, traditional décor and all things charming, the idea for Maggie’s began to take shape. What was once a motorcycle workshop was transformed into a cosy tearoom filled with vintage touches, homemade treats and a warm welcome. And so, from motorcycles to teapots, Maggie’s Tea Room was born.

Took my Mum for a treat to Maggies and we were well impressed! Lovely and welcoming staff, beautiful food and the cakes are to die for! We took what we couldn't eat home 😋 would highly recommend the carrot cake!

My Partner and I visited Maggie's tea room today, with our dog Alfie. We were all warmly welcomed. Alfie spoiled with dog treats. Excellent selection of fresh cakes. Their tea is proper loose leaf tea ( rare to find ). Good selection of savoury food & soups. We would highly recommend. Calm & friendly tea room.

I visited here this morning for the first time with a friend who'd been before. It's a small tea room, four or five tables at the most, with a delicious selection of gorgeous looking cakes and biscuits, There were waffles on the menu which we had with ice cream and fresh raspberries, very tasty. Our tea arrived in a china pot as did the cups, saucers and plates. all reminiscent of a bygone age. Their loo was a sight to behold, and very pleasant to use, quite unexpected and beautifully decorated. We were even treated to a complete top-up of hot water and milk, after we had sat there for an hour and a 1:) I will definitely return.

Me and my sisters decided to go here for tea as a birthday celebration for myself and im so delighted we did! Firstly, it's such a gorgeous tea room and even has a garden :0 The staff were so friendly and made us feel so welcomed and happy to help. I was so happy they also have vegetarian options, which even as a picky eater myself were gorgeous! Sisters said the non vegetarian were delicious too :> Overall amazing place and I highly recommend, I also must compliment the staff again they were so lovely!

Recently Maggies Tea Room hosted an afternoon tea party for my mum and her friends - from the booking through to the close of the party, every element was exceptional. I cannot recommend this venue, food (savoury & sweet treats) and the amazing team highly enough. Pop in, ask for afternoon tea details and book it, support this lovely team of talented people, you won’t be disappointed. Huge thanks to all for supporting a group of friends create more happy memories together, truly outstanding.

Had a delicious afternoon tea for my dad's birthday. There were scotch eggs & a prawn salad which was divine, a layer of very tasty sandwiches then a selection of beautiful cakes to finish. All washed down with a good cup of loose leaf tea. I think in honesty, it was the nicest afternoon tea I've had. The staff are lovely, they added a couple of special touches that I didn't expect to make our visit memorable. Would definitely recommend popping in/booking for afternoon tea.
